25 Years – Fall of the Berlin Wall

The 9th November 2014 will mark the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.  A series of special events and museum exhibitions are planned to take place throughout the city to honour this milestone in German history.  The focus will be on the division of Berlin, the Cold War and the peaceful revolution leading to the unification.

Along the former course of the Berlin Wall an impressive light installation will stand as a “symbol of hope for a world without walls”.  Thousands of illuminated white balloons will form a 12 kilometre long lighted wall through the city centre.

Also, from the 9th November, the permanent exhibition at the Berlin Wall Documentation Centre will reopen its doors to the public after a years renovation.
