Science Trips to Valencia

Posted on: April 18th, 2018 by Kathryn Jobson

City of Arts and Sciences, Valencia

Experience the cutting edge world of arts and sciences at the futuristic complex of Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, one of Europe’s most impressive centres dedicated to cultural and scientific exhibitions.  The City of Arts and Sciences is an ensemble of six areas in the dry river bed of the now diverted River Turia in Valencia, including the Science Museum, Hemisferic Imax Cinema and Planetarium and Oceanografic open air aquarium and oceanographic park.

The Science Museum offers an interactive and hands on learning experience that is both fun and educational for all ages.  There are also spaces which host changing scientific and cultural exhibitions throughout the year.

The vast Oceanografic building gleams white against the greenery of the riverbed.  Inside you’ll find Europe’s largest aquarium. Almost 500 different species of marine life can be seen, including dolphins, belugas, sea lions, penguins and sharks, set in seven different marine environments – the Mediterranean, the polar oceans, the Arctic, the islands, the tropical seas, the temperate seas and the Red Sea. You’ll need at least a few hours to do it justice.

L’Hemisfèric, known as the ‘eye of the city’, is an audio-visual space featuring an IMAX cinema and planetarium.
